I didn't get into running until after high school. I was in the process of losing weight. At first, I ran to lose weight, but then it quickly turned into this amazing past time. I ran 6 days a week. Back then, I ran 6 miles a day, and I honestly didn't think to run more. I really didn't know about races, honestly. I ran because it felt good and I enjoyed it so much.
Then I did some other stuff with my life. I went on an LDS mission and honestly, I can remember running 3 times. It is difficult to exercise while serving a mission. I got home and got super busy with school and work. I did try running once (in the snow) and totally ate it. Not fun.
Then I got married. And got fat. I started running and then I got pregnant. Since I had not been running consistently, I stopped.
Then I got fatter.
Then I had my baby and I tried losing weight. And I did lose weight. I did run some, but not hardcore. I didn't really get back into it until right before my 2nd baby. I ran up until 16 weeks. I started cramping, so I stopped.
I picked it back up trying to lose baby weight. And then my sister in law and I decided to run a marathon. That's when I really started running, and actually training. And that is when I fell in love with long distance running. Nothing felt better than running 16 miles and feeling great after.
I got up to about 18 miles and I had an injury that just would not get better. My hamstring hurt so bad. I was starting to feel the effects of not running during the week and then trying to run long distance on Saturday.
So I decided to end my training 3 weeks before race day. I was devastated. I cried. A lot. Then I cheered on my sister in law.
So, I healed and started running about a month later. I ran between 7 and 9 miles every other day. I began running up cascade mountain and it was super fun and hard! We had a super busy summer, so I didn't run as many miles as I wanted to.
Then I got pregnant again and continued to run 3-4 miles every day. I ran up until I was 36 weeks and then stopped because he dropped and it hurt.
Running through my pregnancy made getting back into running much easier. My goal was to get back into long distance, but I started slow. I began training for a half marathon (my first ever long distance race) with 2 of my neighbors. And that's when I remembered how much I love running and training.
So, I have decided to start a running blog. For myself and other people interested in running. I don't claim to know everything, but I am learning along the way. Learn with me!
